Christmas Recipe: Apple Pie Popsicle

 

 

 

Sharing with you a healthy and simple recipe for you and your family to enjoy while adding a little excitement to your Christmas! 

This Apple Pie Popsicle recipe is the ice cream version of the popular apple pie dessert, where we have now modified the usual apple pie recipe to be lower in calories and sugar. The steps involved to make it are also simpler, so anyone can confidently make it and serve it as a dessert to guests during Christmas gatherings!

When you consume this dessert, not only will you be able to savour its freshness, but you can also enjoy this sweet treat to the fullest while feeling guilt-free!

Full Recipe :

Prep Time: 15 mins

Freeze Time: ~4 hours or overnight 

Ingredients: (5 Serves)

⅓ (35g) Green Apple – diced

⅓ (35g) Red Apple – diced

1 Cup (250g) Plain Low Fat Yoghurt

½ Tsp (1g) All-Spice Powder

3 Tsp (9g) Chia Seeds 

½ oz (15g) Dried Cranberries, chopped

2 oz (60g) Whole Wheat Crackers, crushed 

¼ Cup (65g) Low Fat Milk

 

Method:

  1. To make the apple mixture, add both diced apples, all-spice powder, yoghurt, and chia seeds into a bowl. Mix well. 
  2. To make the pie filling, mix the crackers, cranberries, and milk together in a bowl. 
  3. Pour the apple mixture into each popsicle mold, leaving 1-inch space at the top for the “pie filling”. Then proceed to add in the pie filling into the molds.
  4. Place the popsicle into the freezer to freeze for at least 4 hours or overnight. 

Per serve (1 popsicle) 4.6g protein; 4g fat (2g sat fat); 15.9g carb; 1.8g dietary fibre; 64Cals; 119mg sodium
